Job Summary

Startup Inno is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Data Scientist to drive the design, development, and optimization of advanced search and recommendation systems. This role will lead high-impact initiatives that enhance user engagement, personalization, and product discovery across our digital platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong machine learning expertise with hands-on leadership, business acumen, and a passion for building scalable, production-ready AI solutions. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to translate data into measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end development of search ranking and recommendation algorithms.

• Design and implement scalable machine learning models for personalization, retrieval, and ranking.

• Partner with product managers and engineers to define experimentation strategies (A/B testing, multivariate testing).

• Architect data pipelines and feature stores to support real-time and batch inference.

• Mentor and guide a team of data scientists and ML engineers, fostering best practices.

• Analyze large-scale user behavior data to uncover insights and optimization opportunities.

• Improve model performance through feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and offline/online evaluation.

• Ensure production reliability, monitoring, and continuous model improvement.

• Communicate technical findings and business impact to senior stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.

• Strong expertise in machine learning, information retrieval, and recommender systems.

• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.

• Solid experience with SQL and large-scale data processing (Spark, Hadoop, or equivalent).

• Deep understanding of ranking algorithms, embeddings, and personalization techniques.

• Experience deploying models into production environments.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in data science or machine learning roles.

• 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead data scientist capacity.

• Proven track record building search, recommendation, or personalization systems at scale.

• Experience working in fast-paced product or technology environments preferred.
