Job Summary

Global MNC Tech is seeking a highly skilled Data Lake Engineer to design, implement, and manage large-scale data lake solutions within a dynamic, cloud-first environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in big data architecture, data ingestion, processing, and governance. The Data Lake Engineer will play a crucial role in transforming raw data into accessible, high-quality information, enabling strategic decision-making across multiple business domains.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data lakes on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and organize structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.

  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and query performance for large datasets, ensuring high availability and scalability.

  • Collaborate with data architects, data engineers, and data scientists to define standards, governance, and best practices.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline issues, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security.

  • Develop automated data quality checks, metadata management, and auditing processes.

  • Support analytics and machine learning initiatives by providing clean, structured, and timely datasets.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging big data technologies and recommend improvements to current data lake architecture.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency in big data technologies: Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, Delta Lake, or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms: AWS (S3, Glue, EMR), Azure (Data Lake, Databricks), or GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow).

  • Solid knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and metadata management.

  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data processing.

  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a distributed team.


Experience

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years focused on data lake architecture.

  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-scale data lakes.

  • Experience integrating multiple data sources and working with streaming data pipelines.

  • Prior experience in cloud-based projects and working in agile environments is highly preferred.


Working Hours

  • Full-time remote position.

  • Flexible working hours with occasional requirement to collaborate across multiple time zones.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing vs. data lakes and hybrid architectures.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues and recommend scalable solutions.

  • Capacity to write clean, efficient, and reusable code for data ingestion and transformation.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
