Global MNC Tech is seeking a highly skilled Data Lake Engineer to join our remote Big Data team. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available data lakes that enable enterprise-wide analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives. This role requires expertise in data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, cloud data platforms, and data governance. As part of our global technology team, you will collaborate with data engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure that data is efficiently ingested, stored, and accessible for business-critical analytics.
Design, build, and maintain robust data lake architectures on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Develop ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
Implement data governance, security, and compliance measures to protect sensitive data.
Optimize data storage, query performance, and overall data processing efficiency.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
Monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of the data lake.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data lake architecture, workflows, and best practices.
Stay up-to-date with emerging big data technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve architecture and processes.
Strong proficiency in big data technologies: Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, and related ecosystems.
Expertise in cloud platforms: AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift), Azure (Data Lake, Databricks), or GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow).
Solid programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java for data engineering tasks.
Experience with data modeling, schema design, and metadata management.
Knowledge of data governance, security frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a remote, collaborative environment.
Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
Proven experience designing and deploying enterprise-level data lakes.
Hands-on experience with real-time streaming data and batch processing pipelines.
Prior experience in global or multi-timezone projects is preferred.
Fully remote role with flexibility in work hours; occasional overlap with Global MNC Techs international teams may be required.
Standard expectations: 40 hours per week, with flexibility for project deadlines or critical deployments.
Deep understanding of data warehousing vs. data lake architecture and best practices.
Ability to analyze complex datasets and optimize for performance and cost.
Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
