Startup Inno is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Remote Legal Counsel – GDPR & AI Privacy Specialist to join our growing global team. This role is critical in ensuring that our digital products, platforms, and AI-driven solutions comply with international data protection regulations, with a strong focus on GDPR, AI governance frameworks, and emerging privacy laws.
As a trusted legal advisor, you will work closely with engineering, product, compliance, and leadership teams to design privacy-by-default systems, manage regulatory risks, and support ethical and lawful use of artificial intelligence. Provide legal guidance on GDPR, data protection laws, and AI-related regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
Draft, review, and update privacy policies, data processing agreements (DPAs), terms of service, and consent frameworks.
Advise on AI governance, automated decision-making, profiling, and algorithmic transparency requirements.
Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and AI risk assessments.
Support product and engineering teams in embedding privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles.
Monitor regulatory developments such as EU AI Act, UK GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy frameworks.
Act as a point of contact for data protection authorities and external legal partners when required.
Lead internal privacy training and awareness programs for employees.
Handle data breach response processes and regulatory notifications.
Support contract negotiations with vendors, clients, and partners from a data protection perspective.
Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) with specialization in data protection, technology, or IT law.
Strong knowledge of GDPR, EU AI Act, and international privacy regulations.
Excellent legal drafting and contract review skills.
Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
High level of attention to detail and strong ethical standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
Minimum 4–7 years of professional legal experience in privacy, data protection, or technology law.
Prior experience in a tech company, SaaS environment, startup, or consulting firm is highly preferred.
Proven track record of working with GDPR compliance, DPIAs, and regulatory audits.
Experience advising on AI systems, machine learning, or automated decision-making is a strong advantage.
Fully remote position with flexible working hours.
