Job Summary

Global MNC Tech is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal DevOps – Cost Optimization Architect to lead our cloud financial optimization and DevOps cost engineering initiatives across global platforms. This role is designed for a senior technical leader who combines deep DevOps expertise with strong FinOps, cloud economics, and business acumen to drive large-scale cost efficiency without compromising performance, reliability, or innovation.

As a Principal-level professional, you will define enterprise-wide cost optimization frameworks, influence cloud and infrastructure strategy, and work closely with engineering, finance, product, and leadership teams. You will be responsible for architecting cost-aware systems, enabling data-driven financial decisions, and embedding cost accountability into DevOps and platform engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-level cloud cost optimization strategies across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.

• Act as a technical authority for FinOps practices, cloud governance, and cost engineering.

• Lead cost optimization initiatives including rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, spot instances, and storage lifecycle policies.

• Partner with Finance, Procurement, and Engineering teams to build transparent cost models and forecasting mechanisms.

• Develop automated cost monitoring, reporting, and alerting solutions using modern observability tools.

• Embed cost controls into CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and platform architectures.

• Perform cost impact assessments for new architectures, services, and technology investments.

• Establish KPIs and metrics for cloud efficiency, unit economics, and cost-to-serve models.

• Mentor senior DevOps and platform engineers on cost-aware design principles.

• Present cost insights, trends, and optimization roadmaps to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong expertise in cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.

• Advanced knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).

• Proven experience with FinOps tools and platforms (CloudHealth, Apptio, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, etc.).

• Deep understanding of cloud pricing models, billing structures, and optimization levers.

• Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic).

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Ability to translate technical cost data into business-level insights.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a strategic approach.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering.

• 5+ years in a senior or principal-level role driving large-scale cloud initiatives.

• Proven track record of delivering multi-million-dollar cost savings in complex cloud environments.

• Experience working in large enterprise or global technology organizations.

• Exposure to financial planning, budgeting, and technology cost governance is highly preferred.

Working Hours
