Global MNC Tech is seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Platform Specialist with expertise in Service Mesh technologies, particularly Istio, to join our dynamic cloud engineering team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure microservices architectures. This role combines deep technical knowledge with hands-on operational experience to optimize platform performance, ensure high availability, and enable seamless service-to-service communication across our global infrastructure.
Design, deploy, and manage Istio-based service mesh architectures across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
Implement traffic management, observability, and security policies using Istio to optimize microservices communication.
Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for microservices deployments.
Monitor platform health, troubleshoot complex issues, and proactively resolve potential service disruptions.
Maintain and enhance automation scripts, configuration templates, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
Support container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, ensuring seamless integration with Istio.
Participate in platform capacity planning, performance tuning, and scalability assessments.
Provide technical guidance and best practices for service mesh adoption and DevOps processes.
Document platform configurations, operational procedures, and system architecture for internal stakeholders.
Strong expertise in Istio, Envoy, and Service Mesh patterns.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized applications.
Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, or equivalent).
Solid knowledge of microservices architecture, API management, and service discovery.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, etc.).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid deployments.
Scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or Go.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience with service mesh technologies (Istio preferred).
Proven track record in deploying and managing production-grade microservices environments.
Full-time position; standard working hours with flexibility for on-call support as needed.
Availability for participation in 24/7 global platform operations on a rotational basis.
Excellent understanding of networking concepts, service-to-service communication, and security protocols.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and distributed environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting processes and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps best practices.
