Startup Inno is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Online Proofreader & Editor with a strong focus on academic and journal content. The ideal candidate will ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in scholarly documents while adhering to specific academic and journal standards. This remote role is perfect for individuals passionate about language, research, and maintaining the highest standards of written communication.
As part of our editorial team, you will play a key role in refining manuscripts, articles, and research papers, helping authors convey their ideas with precision and professionalism.
Proofread and edit academic manuscripts, journal articles, dissertations, and other scholarly content for grammar, punctuation, style, clarity, and formatting.
Ensure adherence to specific academic and journal guidelines, including citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.).
Collaborate with authors and internal teams to clarify ambiguities and suggest improvements without altering the intended meaning.
Conduct fact-checking and verify references to maintain content accuracy.
Maintain consistency in tone, style, and structure across documents.
Meet tight deadlines while managing multiple assignments efficiently.
Stay updated on academic writing trends, journal requirements, and style guides.
Bachelors degree or higher in English, Journalism, Linguistics, or a related field.
Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, syntax, and style.
Strong understanding of academic and journal writing standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and editing tools such as Grammarly or PerfectIt.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in proofreading, editing, or academic publishing.
Experience with peer-reviewed journals or academic writing is highly desirable.
Familiarity with multiple citation styles is a plus.
Full-time or part-time remote position.
Flexible hours, but candidates must meet deadlines and coordinate with international clients when needed.
Deep understanding of academic integrity and plagiarism avoidance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with authors and colleagues.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
