Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, a leading South African electricity public utility, is seeking a dedicated Utilityman on a Fixed Term Contract basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems within Eskoms infrastructure. This role requires a hands-on professional committed to upholding safety standards, supporting operational continuity, and contributing to Eskoms mission of delivering reliable electricity to millions of South Africans.
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and utility systems.
Respond promptly to operational faults or breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical equipment.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including reports on maintenance, repairs, and incidents.
Ensure compliance with Eskoms safety and environmental regulations at all times.
Collaborate with engineers and technical teams to support larger projects and operational improvements.
Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively.
Participate in emergency response activities and support crisis management when required.
National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Studies, or related technical field.
Valid trade certification or recognized technical qualification will be advantageous.
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, with practical problem-solving ability.
Strong commitment to health and safety procedures.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills to interact with colleagues, management, and stakeholders.
Minimum of 1–3 years experience in utility operations, electrical maintenance, or mechanical systems within industrial or public utility environments.
Prior experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical or mechanical equipment is highly desirable.
Full-time, standard operational hours with flexibility to cover shifts, weekends, or emergency call-outs as required.
Overtime may be required depending on operational demands.
Knowledge of electrical distribution networks, industrial machinery, and maintenance best practices.
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and schematics.
