Job Summary

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is seeking a dedicated and reliable General Worker – Tools & Equipment Housekeeping to join our operations team. The role is essential in maintaining the organization, cleanliness, and readiness of all tools and equipment used across our facilities. This position ensures operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with workplace standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting the smooth functioning of Eskom operational activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and organization of tools, equipment, and storage areas.

  • Inspect tools and equipment for wear, damage, or malfunction, reporting any issues to the supervisor.

  • Assist in the proper storage, labeling, and inventory management of tools and equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety and hygiene standards at all times.

  • Support operational teams by preparing and distributing tools and equipment as required.

  • Dispose of waste materials and hazardous items safely and according to company procedures.

  • Maintain records of maintenance, cleaning schedules, and stock levels.

  • Provide assistance to colleagues and supervisors in day-to-day operational tasks as needed.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Knowledge of general housekeeping practices, including cleaning and maintenance procedures.

  • Ability to handle and operate basic hand and power tools safely.

  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety standards is an advantage.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting and bending.

  • Teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.


Experience

  • Prior experience in a similar role in industrial, maintenance, or operational environments is preferred.

  • Experience in tool handling, storage, and inventory management is advantageous.


Working Hours

  • Full-time position, typically following Eskoms operational schedule.

  • May include shift work, weekends, or public holidays as required to support operational continuity.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of general housekeeping and equipment maintenance principles.

  • Ability to identify hazards and ensure a safe working environment.

  • Proficiency in basic record-keeping and reporting.

  • Physical fitness to carry out manual labor duties efficiently.
