Job Summary

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, South Africas premier electricity utility, is seeking physically capable and motivated individuals for the position of General Worker – Heavy Labouring Tasks. This role is critical to supporting the companys operational activities by performing demanding physical tasks in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Key Responsibilities

• Perform heavy manual labour including lifting, moving, and handling materials, tools, and equipment.

• Assist with construction, maintenance, and operational tasks as directed by supervisors.

• Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.

• Operate basic hand tools and machinery safely and effectively.

• Support team members in day-to-day tasks and special projects as required.

• Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or incidents immediately to the supervisor.

• Follow company protocols for timekeeping, task reporting, and operational procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Physical fitness to handle strenuous and repetitive tasks over extended periods.

• Basic understanding of health and safety practices in an industrial or construction environment.

• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work under supervision.

• Good communication skills to interact with supervisors and team members.

• Reliability and punctuality in attendance and task completion.

Experience

• Previous experience in heavy labouring, construction, maintenance, or industrial work is an advantage but not mandatory.

• On-the-job training will be provided for candidates demonstrating strong work ethic and physical capability.

Working Hours

• Full-time, typically 40–45 hours per week, with flexibility required for shift work or extended hours depending on operational demands.

• Must be available to work weekends or overtime when required.
