Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, a leading state-owned electricity utility in South Africa, is seeking a dedicated and reliable General Worker to join our Logistics & Warehouse team. The ideal candidate will support the smooth functioning of warehouse operations, assist in handling, storing, and distributing materials, and ensure that all logistics processes are carried out efficiently and safely. This role is crucial to maintaining the operational excellence that Eskom is known for.
Receive, unload, and verify incoming stock and materials.
Organize and maintain warehouse inventory, ensuring proper storage conditions.
Pick, pack, and prepare goods for dispatch according to established procedures.
Assist in the physical movement of equipment and materials as required.
Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety within the warehouse and logistics areas.
Perform routine inspections of stock and report discrepancies or damages.
Support administrative logistics tasks, including maintaining accurate records of stock and deliveries.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with warehouse team members and other departments to meet operational targets.
Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent; further education in logistics, warehousing, or a related field is advantageous.
Basic understanding of warehouse operations, stock management, and logistics processes.
Physical stamina to handle manual labor tasks and lift heavy objects safely.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is desirable.
Good communication skills in English; additional South African languages are a plus.
Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or materials handling environment is preferred but not mandatory.
Exposure to industrial safety standards and procedures will be considered an advantage.
Standard full-time hours, typically 40 hours per week.
Flexibility may be required based on operational demands, including occasional overtime or shift work.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Physical fitness and the ability to perform repetitive tasks over long periods.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Basic problem-solving skills and willingness to learn on the job.
