Job Description


We are looking for experienced and reliable Freelance Translators to work on a project and ad-hoc basis, translating a variety of content from English to French and/or English to Spanish. This remote, contract-based role is ideal for language professionals in Canada with a passion for linguistic accuracy, cultural nuance, and clarity in written communication.


Whether you are translating web content, marketing materials, product descriptions, or formal documents, you will play a key role in helping businesses communicate effectively with diverse audiences across Canada and internationally.



Key Responsibilities



  • Translate written content from English into either French or Spanish with high accuracy and attention to tone

  • Proofread and edit translations to ensure grammatical correctness, fluency, and cultural relevance

  • Adhere to deadlines and quality expectations for various types of content

  • Use translation tools (e.g., CAT tools) when applicable to ensure consistency and efficiency

  • Collaborate with project managers and editors when clarification or feedback is needed

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with all assigned materials



Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Proficiency in both English and either French or Spanish (native or near-native level)

  • Strong writing, grammar, and editing skills in the target language

  • Knowledge of Canadian linguistic variations is preferred (especially for French)

  • Familiarity with tools like SDL Trados, MemoQ, or other CAT software

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain tone and meaning across translations



Experience



  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a translator or proofreader (freelance or in-house)

  • Experience translating marketing, technical, or legal documents is a plus

  • Recent graduates with strong language credentials and samples are welcome to apply



Working Hours



  • Project-based/freelance with flexible deadlines

  • Work from home at your own pace (some projects may have fixed delivery schedules)
